Ashley Gonzalez

Program Coordinator
CHC of Wyandotte County
Ashley Gonzalez was born in Kansas City, KS, raised in Indiana, and received a Bachelors in Psychology in Louisville, KY, before moving back to Kansas City, KS around 2016. Ashley has been with Community Health Council since 2022. She came on as a Maternal Community Health Worker Supervisor and had that role for about two years before being promoted to Program Coordinator at the end of 2024. Ashley began her career as a community health worker after her time as a pre-school teacher for Project Eagle. While she was a pre-school teacher, she assisted her students’ families with getting connected to resources and found so much joy when families lit up with relief for the assistance. Ashley then found herself at Swope Health and Nurture KC as a Maternal Community Health Worker. This is where she really got to know what a community health worker is. Through her work as an MCHW, she met the amazing Dr. Mariah Chrans who gave her the opportunity to move to CHC as a Maternal Community Health Worker Supervisor. Ashley is a very kind and selfless person who has always put her needs before others. Seeing the needs of the community, it opened her eyes even more to the fact that there's still too many people that are not given the equitable opportunities to thrive and succeed. That is what drives her even more with the work that CHWs do. Listening to families’ stories, as well as watching them grow, thrive, and become self-advocates by getting CHW support is something that warms her heart and makes it all worth it. As a Program Coordinator with CHC, Ashley works with partner organizations/agencies to make sure that both organizations are working collectively to serve the community and ensure staff is getting the proper support to do the amazing work. She oversees the sites with visits, going over the MOU's and contracts so that they are serving both CHC, the Partner Organization and the community at large. She also assists with coordinating events/maternal health classes in the community and with community organizations.
