Andrea was born and raised in Honduras before moving to the US in 2006. She lived in North Carolina for several years until she moved to KCK in 2011. Andrea worked as a banker for a long time but wanted to work in a field where she could help and be more of a resource for people in need. She found a training class for Community Health Workers at the beginning of 2021 and began working within the community as a CHW by October of that year.
Andrea became a CHW to provide help and build trusting relationships with people in underserved communities. She wants to help everyone know of the available resources in Wyandotte County and help people feel comfortable asking for help and support. Andrea is also a Maternal Community Health Worker. Being a mother inspires her to help mothers and families in need, giving them support and resources they may not realize are available for them.
