Karla Sevilla was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA after her parents immigrated there from Honduras. For some time growing up, she was her mother’s interpreter. Doing this led to her wanting to help and provide for people in the Hispanic and Latinx community by pursuing a career in nursing. She also dealt with being in foster care, and her case worker from this inspired her to do something similar to a caseworker.
Before joining CHC as a community health worker in 2021, Karla had experience helping people as a medical assistant and a medical interpreter. She enjoys the help she is able to provide people as a CHW, especially being able to help and build connections with people that deal with language barriers. Karla understands that many Hispanic and Latinx people struggle to reach out for help and resources, so she loves being a trusted resource for people to turn to because she is bilingual.
